BYU Research Challenge
Gabriela Mostacero, John Robinson, and Nicole Matamoros represented our program in the BYU Research Challenge this Fall (2025). As part of the competition, the team conducted a full equity analysis of Ulta Beauty, including a deep dive into the company’s financial performance, competitive positioning, and long-term growth opportunities. They prepared a professional written report and delivered a formal presentation to a panel of industry judges. Their work showcased strong analytical skills, collaboration, and a clear ability to communicate complex insights—reflecting the high standards of our program and the dedication they brought to the challenge.
CFA Research Challenge
Diego Quinones, Garrett Pusey, Henrique Zappe, Robert Garaishin, and Spencer Gleave represented the Master’s Student Investment Fund at the CFA Institute Research Challenge. As part of the competition, the team conducted a full equity analysis of Lovesac. After submitting the written report, the team successfully advanced to the local competition. The team is recommending a BUY rating with a target price of $20.19. This is the first time an MSIF team has participated in the Research Challenge, marking the beginning of building institutional knowledge at the University of Utah.
